June 2017 - New name, new site!

Sometimes one has to sort things out and do some cleaning to bring some fresh wind into life. Summer 2017 is such a moment for us and we did an extensive revision. We renewed our website completely and added a lot of new picture material, animations and videos. Our new products have now the presentation they deserve and you, our dear customer, have a user-friendly platform to surf through the site.

With wistful feelings we also say good bye to our previous company name, Linie58. As our philosophy is all about simplicity, we have renamed our company to jakob schenk, after our designer.

Enjoy exploring our new site!

May 2015 - Heidi Hankaniemi - “The Prettiest Table In the World”

Heidi Hankaniemi was born in Ekenäs Finland and lives and works in New York City. Heidi works primarily with vintage and discarded textiles; embroideries and fabrics, assembling them into installations, tapestries and sculptural objects.

The tabletop collaboration with Tick universal table legs is part of a larger body of work; the Mending tapestries. These works are built of layers upon layers of lace and vintage fabrics -many of which have at some point been damaged and thrown away. The works gather and mend together the handiwork of (mainly) women from across the world, and pay homage to their stories and skills.

"I wanted to create The Most Beautiful Table possible, disregarding any concern for practicality, instead approaching the piece purely as a work of art. However... I do think that a red wine stain on the fabric would only add to its character..."
