The label jakob schenk (formerly Linie58) was founded in September 2011. The first product, Tick table legs, became an immediate success, bringing the German design price for the designer Jakob Schenk as the Best Newcomer 2012. The ticks are now available in three different sizes, the latest in a dining table height.

The Tick table legs were the main topic of my Masters Thesis at the university in Helsinki. It all started with a simple idea and a piece of wire and after building hundreds of tiny models, the ticks became what they are now.

The story continued in 2016 with two new products, Tuba and Runde tables. As ever, the design is simple, functional and made to last forever. Runde is a solid steel side table, delicate but stable as an iron weight. Tuba is an exceptionally smart sofa table - combining design and practicality effortlessly.

All the products of jakob schenk are made in Germany by specialised and high level local companies, the nearest being in the same little Bavarian village where the company is located.

It is very important for us that all our products are produced in our local surrounding in order to minimise transportation distances. We are in close contact with all our manufacturing companies, which use high standard and sustainable materials, in order to maximise production quality.

Designer Jakob Schenk (*1980) studied Interior Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim. After graduation he  joined the Masters Program for Furniture Design at the Aalto University in Helsinki, where he graduated in 2010. After coming back to Germany he founded his own company which is until now developing, producing and distributing products designed by him. He is also working as freelance designer for other companies, such as Freistil Rolf Benz.

I love to experiment. It´s often so that a small detail or functional principle defines the foundation for a design. And every time
one starts again to learn and to understand and finds in the best case the core of a thing.
